Optimize at the ESTECO Conference Nov. 6
The third annual modeFRONTIER 2013 Users Meeting is being held November 6 at The Inn at St. John’s, in Plymouth, MI. It is a place where users of modeFRONTIER, ESTECO’s platform for multi-disciplinary and multi-objective optimization, come together to exchange knowledge, share methods and techniques, and hear about other innovative experiences enabled by the software.
The conference, to be attended by more than 100 users, will showcase 14 speakers who will present their specific modeFRONTIER use cases, complete with lessons learned and tips on how other engineering organizations in different fields can apply optimization techniques. Among the companies that will be presenting on their use of modeFRONTIER and optimization technology are:
- John Mannisto, engineering director for simulation-based design at Whirlpool, who will discuss how to drive product development with CAE and system design in his keynote;
- Dr. Ren-Jye Yang, senior technical leader at Ford Motor Company, who will discuss design optimization applications in the automotive sector;
- And users from Cummins Inc., Modine Manufacturing Co., Ford Motor Co., and BorgWarner Turbo Systems, who will discuss results from their recent work with modeFRONTIER.
While companies have started to apply optimization to different stages of the product development cycle, the technology needs to be applied at the highest levels in order for it to have the greatest impact, according to ESTECO officials. Listening to the stories of experienced users like the delegates speaking at the conference can help those less versed in the technology better understand how to leverage it.
“While optimizing a small detail of a product might have limited impact on a company, the systematic use of optimization in any phase of the design process may lead to huge benefits,” said ESTECO’s Caterina Moro.
Along with meeting and networking with modeFRONTIER users in other fields, the conference is an opportunity to learn more about optimization techniques in general while getting a deeper dive into ESTECO’s product line. Key modeFRONTIER developers as well as members of the ESTECO management team, including President Carlo Poloni, will be on hand to provide product demos, discuss the company’s vision and product roadmap, and provide a wealth of domain expertise in how to apply optimization techniques to a range of cross-industry design challenges.
Conference attendees (even those who are not yet modeFRONTIER users) can also take part in hands-on training sessions. The company will be offering modeFRONTIER training courses free of charge to attendees at the same conference venue on Thursday, November 7.
