Former U.S. Health and Human Services CTO Todd Park has been named the new U.S. Chief Technology Officer. The White House announced his appointment on March 9.
The U.S. CTO position was created by President Obama in order to help modernize government and use technology to meet national challenges. The position was originally established when the President announced his Strategy for American Innovation, which emphasizes improvements in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. The CTO works in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
