WIN Enterprises announced the PL-80550, a fanless, small form factor appliance that can serve the networking needs in a variety of environments from departmental IT, SMB, retail or factory floor, the company says.

The unit features the Intel Atom D2550 processor and a choice of either 4 or 6 GbE LAN with bypass function. The Intel Atom processor provides performance at 1.86 GHz with low power consumption at 10W. The D2550 processor is available in dual-core design. Both processor options are partnered with an Intel ICH10R I/O controller. Wi-Fi capability is optional.

The unit provides a compact footprint in a rugged aluminum chassis with 6-LAN throughput. System I/O includes 2x USB 2.0, and an RJ-45 console port plus LED indicators to monitor power and storage activities for local system management, maintenance and diagnostics. It supports one mini-card socket. The unit offers an optional onboard Cavium Nitrox Lite CN505 chip to provide hardware-level cryptographic acceleration. The device is RoHS, FCC and CE compliant.
