Schott Releases Pictures by PC 3.6

Schott Systeme has released its Pictures by PC 3.6 CAD/CAM software, which the company says can reducing machining times.

The time savings are due to numerous new machining strategies included within the latest release. Hybrid finishing, for example, generates toolpaths within a single finishing operation to optimize and combine the machining of side faces and flatter regions. An improved rest material recognition both analyzes and marks areas that require further machining with a smaller tool. This enables the residual material to be completely removed.

The existing pocketing operations are now complemented by the inclusion of trochoidal milling. The radial toolpaths facilitate the machining of extremely hard materials, improve the machine dynamic through ‘smoother’ toolpaths, and extend tool life.
