Infiniti has announced the winners of its global talent search, which will be given the opportunity to work on the Formula One Infiniti Red Bull Racing team. The three winners were decided after a three-day final competition at the Infiniti Performance Engineering Academy.
The three winners were William Priest, of Buckinghamshire, U.K., Eric LaRoche, of Hamilton Square, NJ, and Jason Zide from Laguna Beach, CA. These three will have a 12-month work placement with the team starting in September, accommodation in the U.K., a company car and full salary.
The final assessment process included contestants from a pool of 1,500 entrants who faced a variety of challenges related to road car and racing car engineering. This included practical design tasks, written exams, interviews and group exercises. Participants were also given the opportunity to work with Sebastian Vettel, director of performance at Infiniti.
“William, Eric and Jason impressed us all throughout the process, especially given the stiff competition they had from the other candidates,” said Andreas Sigl, global director at Infiniti Formula One. “They demonstrated not just a natural aptitude for engineering and an excellent work ethic, but also a real understanding of the benefits Formula One can bring a road car company like Infiniti and the potential for even greater technical crossover in the future. We’re delighted to have given them the opportunity to realize their dream and will be working closely with them as they settle into their new role.”
