CEDREM Receives Award for Project Conducted with Altair Solutions

Altair, a global provider of simulation technology and services, has announced that its partner and customer CEDREM used the company’s HyperWorks computer-aided engineering (CAE) suite in its work, and was honored with the 40th “Ingenieur Général Chanson” award.

The annual “Ingénieur Général Chanson” award is given to engineers of the Direction générale de l’armement (DGA), army engineers, civil engineers or research centers for innovative projects in the area of ground military defense and practical applications. CEDREM, a French enigneering services provider, was awarded for its innovative solution for the protection of vehicles as well as for buildings exposed to the effects of explosions and impacts from improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The new design results in weight savings of around 15 to 20% relative to the prior design.

CEDREM specializes in composite structures subjected to dynamic phenomena such as crash, ballistic impact, explosion, blast, and more. The company is a longstanding user of the HyperWorks suite, including RADIOSS, HyperMesh, HyperView and HyperGraph. HyperWorks was used to create a high pressure impact simulation of 3D sandwich panel energy absorbers.

“We are very happy for CEDREM. Winning this important award is a tremendous accomplishment, and we are pleased that they were able to successfully leverage our products,” said Mauro Guglielminotti, managing director Southern Europe, Altair Engineering.
