3Dconnexion Supports Engineers of the Future at WorldSkills London 2011

By DE Editors

3Dconnexion will again sponsor the Mechanical Engineering Design CAD category at the 41st International WorldSkills competition, equipping all 20 CAD workstations with a 3Dconnexion SpacePilot PRO 3D mouse. More than 150,000 people are expected to watch 1,000 competitors — people from around the world age 25 and under — compete to be the best at their chosen skill. WorldSkills London 2011 will take place Oct. 5-8, 2011 at ExCeL, London.

Held every two years, WorldSkills is the largest international skills competition in the world and London looks set to be the largest WorldSkills event yet. Teams compete to win gold, silver and bronze medals, while medallions for excellence are awarded to competitors who achieve the international standard. Participating countries hold regional heats before selecting their national teams.

“WorldSkills London promises to be a truly world class event,” says Aidan Jones, chief executive, WorldSkills London 2011. “Since winning the bid in 2006, we have been working hard to ensure it is the best WorldSkills event yet, showcasing the skills that shape our world. This would not be possible without the support of our sponsors who are leading the promotion of skills excellence, and helping to train young people for the future.”
