Siemens PLM Software has introduced the new Tecnomatix IntoSite software, a cloud-based Web application that maintains a 3D representation of a production facility, presents it in its geographical context, and allows users to navigate through the facility in the same way users would navigate Google Earth. According to the company, IntoSite provides manufacturers virtual access to plants for planning, issue resolution and sharing best practices globally without the need for costly plant visits and the cumbersome task of accessing multiple sources of data to get a comprehensive view of the plant.
Users can view IntoSite design, manufacturing and facilities information managed in Teamcenter, as well as the geographical location of assets. The solution deploys as a Software as a Service (SaaS) application, with the software and the associated data hosted on the cloud, that users can access via a Web browser.
Users can create visual tags in the 3D geographical context. The tags point to Internet URLs, files or configured data. Clicking a tag immediately takes users to the desired information. Teamcenter users can visualize assets by launching IntoSite from Teamcenter, while Tecnomatix IntoSite users can view configured data that is governed by Teamcenter access rules.
Knowledge sharing between different departments and factories is provided by IntoSite using GIS capabilities. You can share PLM information including future plans, studies and reports. The solution allows people in the field, as well as in factories, to share best practices, tips and tricks, and comment on data posted from central planning.
Users can build a structure of layers that reflect a company's business logic. The visual tags are partitioned according to the layers, providing control of what information you need to see. IntoSite provides search capabilities for visual tags, company addresses and geographical coordinates.
