VirtualGrid Releases VRMesh v7.6 for Point Clouds, Meshes

Streamlines the process for creating drill guides for dental implants.

| Published March 22, 2013

VirtualGrid announced the availability of VRMesh v7.6, the latest version of its 3D point cloud and mesh processing software. This release adds several new capabilities to streamline the process of creating a drill guide for dental implant surgery.

The entire workflow for dental drill guide design includes separate cylinders and tubes from a dental cast; the ability to extract a desired region for producing a drilling template; the ability to fit cylinders and tubes to the template; and users can execute Boolean operations to generate a drill guide for 3D printing.

The new version combines all these steps into a batch process module to provide users a simple way for creating a drill guide, which reduces the number of clicks that users need to take. Users simply define a region of interest. Then, the program will automatically generate a watertight drill guide for 3D printing.
