PROSTEP Launches V6 xPDM Windchill Adapter

Exchange data between CATIA V6 and Windchill.

| Published February 25, 2013

With V6 xPDM Windchill Adapter, PROSTEP has developed a product that enables the bi-directional exchange of data between CATIA V6 (VPM Central) from Dassault Systemes and Windchill from PTC.

The product was created in partnership with Dassault. Because PROSTEP also works closely together with PTC, it was possible to seamlessly integrate both systems, the company says. This means that companies who use PTC Windchill can also integrate the V6 products from Dassault in their existing system environment.

The adapter uses PROSTEP's OpenPDM technology and is currently being implemented in initial customer projects. One of the highlights of the product is the bidirectional synchronization of product structures between both systems. CAD and other files are transferred in addition to the metadata.

The adapter uses standard interfaces as well as separate business logic and thus enables the integration of V6 and Windchill. This system architecture reduces the amount of time and effort involved in system upgrades the company says. Typical application scenarios are preconfigured in the adapter, which means that it is possible to shorten the introduction phase.
