AVEVA announced the launch of AVEVA Catalogue Manager, which the company says can save man-hours in large projects through streamlined generation of accurate part numbers, component specifications and bulk material catalogs. The solution allows engineers to globally manage complex specifications across all material categories. Data can be consistently controlled across a number of systems, including engineering, design, materials management and procurement, to improve information governance and project profitability, the company says. "The cataloguing and project selection of bulk material is a complex, critical-path process," said Derek Middlemas, COO and head of enterprise solutions, AVEVA. "If not structured and managed effectively, it leads to poor project performance and higher material costs. We are dedicated to creating solutions for our customers that reduce project risk, increase efficiency and improve project quality. Complete control over the digital information asset is vital, and this new product provides a logical first step for customers deploying an enterprise-wide resource management solution." AVEVA Catalogue Manager allows engineering, procurement and construction contractors (EPCs) to standardise their engineering information, and owner-operators to consolidate the use of common components across multiple assets within their own corporate catalogue. Shipbuilders expanding into offshore and plant construction projects can also benefit from AVEVA Catalogue Manager's capabilities. The solution integrates with AVEVA PDMS and the new AVEVA Everything3D design tools. This enables generated component codes to be mapped to design characteristics, the company says.
