MSC Software to Distribute VCollab

3D viewing platform to be integrated into SimManager for data sharing, collaboration.

| Published December 17, 2012

MSC Software announced a new marketing partnership with Visual Collaboration Technologies to promote and distribute the VCollab family of products. Visual Collaboration Technologies provides a platform for viewing 3D geometry, FEA models and FEA Results. VCollab will be offered immediately as a standalone product and will be integrated into MSC Software's SimManager, providing a means to share, collaborate and review 3D simulation data, the company says.

Users will be able to create an automatic 3D sharable model upon import and after any simulation automatically generated in SimManager. The solution compresses results files up to 98%, allowing sharing of results via the Internet and as long term archives in SimManager. The combined solution also offers support for many native CAD and CAE model and results formats, including MSC Nastran, Patran and Marc, as well as third-party solvers.

"VCollab provides a light weight 3D way to visualize and share design and CAE information in SimManager allowing engineers to collaborate and make critical engineering decisions right from their browser," said Leo Kilfoy, general manager of the simulation process and data management business unit at MSC.
