FARO and TeZet Enter Into Agreement

New agreement between the two organizations ensures innovative, cost-effective, and accurate solutions for tube measurement.

Entering into a new European technology and marketing agreement are the companies FARO (Coventry, UK), provider of portable 3D measurement devices and TeZet (Boulder, CO; Zurich, Switzerland), the Swiss-based tube measurement software specialist. Both organizations seek to provide innovative solutions for tube measurement with this agreement.

Under the terms of this new agreement, TeZet’s tube specialized software solution TeZetCAD, will be integrated into the FARO portable devices for 3D measurement - ScanArm and FaroArm. The technology will be available immediately in Europe, where one customer, automotive supplier Automotive Components Penzberg GmbH (ACP) looks forward to the product’s level of quality for bending pipes with a circumference of 150mm or more for the production of their exhaust pipes for construction vehicles.

FARO’s laser arm equipped with TeZetCAD software will make it possible for them to easily generate a tube design in a CAD environment.

As a result of this agreement, users will have the ability to measure freeform bent tubes with the FARO Laser ScanArm so that tube benders can actually bend tubes by extracting them graphically from CAD drawings. This replaces the existing method, traditional laser scanning, that allowed measurement of the reproducibility and quality control for freeform bent tubes. This required being able to collect points and convert the point cloud into polygons or nurbs to generate a tube design on the screen without having any tube data, which took a lot of time. TeZet’s software module for FARO ScanArms allows automatic calculation of tube data during the scanning procedure.

The combination of TeZet’s software module and FARO gives the two companies the opportunity to deliver a product for measuring and automatic generation of very complex tube geometries more accurately and in less time than previous methods.
