 Contex (Alleroed, Denmark & Chantilly, VA) and VIDAR, a Contex Group company, launched the SD Series — an affordable range of user-friendly scanners with all-new enhanced CIS technology.
The SD Series is suited for users who primarily scan technical documents and maps. Combining scanning technology with simplicity, the scanners increase productivity and simplify scan-to-file and scan-to-print tasks for in-house users, eliminating the need to send scanning jobs out of house. The SD Series also serves copy shops with high-volume technical document archiving projects. The SD Series’ ability to separate fine lines and details in technical documents delivers the sharpness required by customers in architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), geographic information systems (GIS), and copy and reprographics shops, all in a lightweight design of 30kg (66 lbs.) for mobility. At 44 inches, Contex says the SD Series can handle wider documents than other CIS scanners on the market. Its 1,200dpi optical resolution and intelligent image cleanup let the scanners capture all fine lines and details.  The SD Series allows companies to make scanners available in several departments, replacing the more traditional setup of one centralized wide format scanner location in-house.
Contex also announced Nextimage software, which is said to enhance productivity, scanning experience, and image results. Contex says Nextimage, a new-generation multifunction software solution for wide format image scanners, can scan tasks faster with an improved user interface; its advanced imaging features can correct every scan for contrast, balance, and detail — to cut out re-scanning and increase user productivity. Providing multifunction capability, it features integrated scanning, copying, and editing utilities.When combined with Contex and VIDAR’s SD Series (and HD Series) scanners, Nextimage offers built-in color management, B/W adaptive thresholding for monochrome cleanup, and advanced color matching with closed-loop or ICC color copying.
