DeskArtes’ 3Data Expert V 8.0 CAD fixing software.

DeskArtes (Helsinki, Finland) introduced 3Data Expert software version 8.0 for 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and simulation data transfer and manipulation. Release 8.0 features a new user interface, data structures, and context sensitive repair help, which allow for fully interactive and effective 3D model repair and manipulation.

3Data Expert software converts surface data from IGES, CATIA, Pro/E, STEP and UGS files to solid STL, ZPR, or VRML files. The software also detects and automatically repairs various mistakes in STL, VRML, and ZPR models. 3Data Expert is part of the DeskArtes Expert Series software product family, which includes Dimensions Expert, for basic automatic repair and model splitting for 3D printing from CAD/CAE/CAM systems; and Design Expert, for free-form 3D CAD modeling and photorealistic rendering. Along with 3Data Expert version 8.0, DeskArtes released new versions of the Dimensions Expert and View Expert software tools.

The new version of 3Data Expert includes several significant changes from version 7.1, including new data structures, viewing, and selection and coloring commands. New workflow and a Tools Window for frequently used commands allow the most efficient repair, coloring, and printing of correct models. A Help Text window in the Fix Model Tab makes model repair easier for infrequent users of the software. Improved viewing functionality enables free viewing from any direction and separate error filtering levels allow for different model accuracy requirements. Fully new coloring and texturing commands for faceted models provide tools for efficient model coloring. Several new functions assist with manual repair and more efficient data structures allow models to be repaired with more triangles.

DeskArtes (www.deskartes.com) develops and commercializes software products for designers, engineers, model makers, marketers, and others in new product development.
