Moldex3D-Mesh R9.0 Releases FEA Preprocessing

CoreTech System Co., Ltd. (Chupei, Hsinchu, Taiwan) released Moldex3D-Mesh R9.0, an advanced mesh generator for fast preparation of complex geometries for finite element analysis (FEA) and computer-aided engineering (CAE), including plastic injection molding and structural mechanics.

Moldex3D-Mesh has been available on Rhino since 2002. Built in Rhino 4.0, Moldex3D-Mesh R9.0 inherits the enhanced CAD functions of Rhino 4.0. Therefore, it’s very capable of importing models from various CAD for clear up, modification, midplane extraction, etc. Moldex3D-Mesh supports various mesh types, including 2D triangular and quadrilateral; 3D tetrahedral, prismatic, hexagonal, voxel (brick), and pyramid meshes.

Among the automatic and semi-automatic mesh generators that are available in Moldex3D-Mesh, the Boundary Layer Mesh (BLM) generator is for complex geometries. The BLM generator lets users generate inward one or two layers of prismatic meshes out of the triangular surface mesh of the object, followed by filling up the internal space with quality-controlled tetrahedral mesh.

With this unique BLM, FEA solvers can capture the variable distribution, such as temperature, more accurately with much less number of elements than the isotropic tetrahedral mesh. The BLM model also benefits the FEA solvers by much more quality mesh than the multilayer anisotropic tetrahedral ones.

A plug-in of Rhino 4.0, Moldex3D-Mesh is a natural fit for Rhino users who are interested in exporting quality mesh for structural FEA or injection molding CAE using Moldex3D.
