Two-Channel Oscilloscope Has 8-bit Resolution and 16-channel Analyzer

New, full-featured 25MHz bench scope with logic analyzer that samples at 100MHz.

| Published March 24, 2008

The MSO5022 is a new full-featured 25MHz two-channel benchtop mixed-signal oscilloscope from Saelig (Pittsford, NY; saelig.com) with 8-bit resolution and a 16-channel logic analyzer. It has a 7.8 in. 640 x 480 pixel color LCD and is said to be small enough and light enough to carry anywhere. The scope has a USB connection to enable printing stored results. With a buffer size of 4MS, the MSO5022's timebase range is 5ns/div to 5s/div, with synchronous 8-bit sampling on both channels. Sensitivity range is 5mV/div to 5V/div with maximum display of ±50V. Signal triggering options include: auto, normal, single, edge, video, and alternate. Housed in a 14.5 in. 7 in. 5.3 in. case and powered from 100-240 VAC 50/60 Hz, the MSO5022 consumes less than 15W and weighs less than 2 pounds. The built-in 16-channel logic analyzer samples at 100MHz and pre-/mid-/re- triggers on bus and state signature as well as data width, and offers data search capabilities so you can see signals or data events on the same instrument.

The MSO5022 can automatically measure and display frequency and peak-peak/rms/mean values, but cursors can also be moved to make individual readings. A built-in self-calibration facility improves measurement accuracy and video monitoring is also possible since you can trigger on NTSC/PAL/SECAM line or field waveforms.

According to Saelig, another really useful feature is the ability to store 4 waveforms and settings for comparison with live inputs. A persistence control is also available, which simulates old analog scopes to compare slow-moving waveforms with previous scans and an x,y display enables engineers to see phase changes. Accessories include two x1/x10 passive oscilloscope probes with four-foot lead, a logic probe, a CD manual, PC download software, and a USB cable.
