Saelig Offers Serial-to-Ethernet Gateway and Spectrum Analyzer

Saelig Co. Inc. (Pittsford, NY) is offering two independent peripherals, the first of which is a serial-to-Ethernet Gateway that provides an easy, quick interface to the Internet, and the second is a 1MHz to 2.7GHz spectrum analyzer that fits in the palm of your hand.

The first item, the WIZ110SR, is a plug 'n play, reliable gateway module that converts RS-232 into TCP/IP protocol and includes DB-9 and RJ45 connectors for immediate use. It enables remote checking, managing, and control of devices via Ethernet and TCP/IP by connecting existing RS-232 equipment at up to 230Kbps to a network.

Simple software set-up allows users to rapidly create a 10/100Mbps Ethernet interface with a maximum serial rate of 230Kbps. WIZ110SR is a compact 2-in. x 1.2 in. board with built-in system connectors to allow any device with serial inputs and/or outputs to be Ethernet/Internet-enabled for less than $29. The 1MHz to 2.7GHz spectrum analyzer, the SA2701T, is said to offer every engineer the opportunity to own a 2.7GHz spectrum analyzer. Weighing about a pound, PSA2701T offers sweep modes of continuous, single, peak hold and average (up to 256 sweeps) with unlimited storage for waveforms, setups, and fully annotated screens under user-defined file names.

PSA2701T is built around a Palm T|X handheld computer, so data transfer to a PC for analysis, documentation, and printing is via the built-in mini USB connector. Additional benefits include Wi-Fi (802.11b), Bluetooth 1.1 and Infrared interfaces. Bitmap images of the whole screen can be stored for viewing or printing.

PSA2701T is a cost effective, highly portable tool, allowing a spectrum analyzer to go to areas that have traditionally been a problem to access with benchtop instruments. WiFi and RFID site testing are expected to be popular uses for the PSA2701T, but EMC and RF/clock interference can be quickly evaluated too.
