Visual Numerics, Inc. (Houston, TX) announced the availability of PV-WAVE version 9.0, the next generation of the company's industry-leading visual data analysis software. It offers new analysis features, expanded usability and performance, and broader platform support.

With PV-WAVE 9.0, engineers, scientists and business analysts can build visual analysis applications on a wider range of platforms, as well as perform data mining and forecasting of large and complex data sets to better understand trends, patterns, and anomalies in their data.

Companies in data-intensive industries, such as financial services and retail, collect massive amounts of data about customers and business transactions. PV-WAVE helps companies develop proprietary applications to better analyze large complex data sets, and make critical business decisions with confidence. Embedded analytics from the IMSL C Library provide both backward analysis and forward predictions on collected data, while the robust PV-WAVE graphics and visualization engine efficiently illustrates data sets using n-dimensional charts, heat maps, and contour maps.

Other new features of PV-WAVE 9.0 include IMSL C Library version 5.5 and 6.0 Integration; OpenMP support for Windows XP; fast Radial Basis Functions; Eclipse Plug-in, which allows users to leverage the Eclipse open source integrated development environment (IDE) for development and debugging, and enables new users to more quickly become proficient with PV-WAVE. Also, additional Platform Support provides users with additional options for using PV-WAVE in different hardware and software environments including Oracle (Linux 32 and 64 bit, Solaris 64bit) and Windows XP 64 bit.

PV-WAVE is an array-oriented fourth-generation programming language used to build and deploy Visual Data Analysis applications.
